About the Role

Job Summary

This role requires strong leadership of high-level theoretical and empirical research, analysis of complex data, and production of evidence-based policy recommendations. The Senior Analyst role also involves the management of key projects, engagement with stakeholders, and development of policy briefs or reports to influence strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth primary and secondary research macroeconomic research and analysis, economic and financial modelling, forecasting and sectoral policy research for reform and policy using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform policy.

  2. Policy Development and Advisory: Prepare technical policy notes, working and discussion papers, for policy development and reform advisory.

  3. New Policy Proposal and Regulations Review: Review of existing policy performance and identify existing policy and regulatory gaps, draft new policy proposals, and monitoring of legislative developments.

  4. Data Base and Data Management: Create a smart data base on national and global macroeconomic variables for utilisation in various policy analysis niches.

  5. Technology Scouting and Technical Due Diligence: Identify emerging technologies or evaluating the viability of new technologies for adoption by client firms

  6. Presentations and Speech Writing: write technical presentations and speeches for the MD/CEO and for personal delivery.

  7. Economic Updates: Prepare Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Macroeconomic Updates to guide new policy development, reform advisory, and policy advocacy.

  8. Policy Reporting and Communication: Produce high-quality reports, briefings, and articles for diverse stakeholders.

  9. Project Leadership and Junior Staff Mentorship: Manage project timelines to meet deadlines, lead working groups, and mentor junior researchers for rapid professional and technical growth.

  10. Stakeholder Engagement and Management: Engage with government officials, private sector leaders, and local and international development partners to gather insights required for reporting and project delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications Education: A Master’s degree or PhD in Public Policy, Economics, or a related field of the Social Sciences. Possession of a PhD degree will be an added advantage.

Experience: 2–5+ years of experience in policy analysis and research, in a private sector or government think tank, non-governmental organisation (NGO), or an academic environment will be preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in the use of research and analytical applications and tools such as R, EViews, SPSS, Stata, Dynare, survey CTO/Kobotoolbox to analyze large research datasets and create visualizations.

  • Utilize statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS) to analyze large research datasets and create visualizations.

  • Ability to network effectively and connect across sectors the leadership of MDAs, Development Partners, and professionals.

  • Demonstration of strong discipline, reliability, and the ability to manage responsibilities without constant reminders

  • Good interpersonal skills and capacity for teamwork

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently without supervision under tight deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities

  • Possession of excellent problem-solving skills

Salary/Compensation Very competitive in line with industry standards, but negotiable based on qualification and years of experience.
