Prof. Adeola Adenikinju

Prof. Adenikinju chairs the Board of Directors of Macrostrat Nigeria Limited, and sits on the Board of other major Nigerian companies. He also doubles as the Development Policy, Research, and Energy Advisor. He is the immediate past president of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES). Prof. Adeola obtained his Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees in Economics from the University of Ibadan. He is a former adviser on energy and economic matters to both President Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan; former member of the Central Bank of Nigeria Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), and immediate past national president of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES). He is a former Director of the Centre for Petroleum and Energy Law (CPEEL), a MacArthur Foundation Regional Centre of Excellence, University of Ibadan. Between 1996 and 2005, Prof. Adenikinju was a Visiting Scholar, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington DC, USA. He served as the Technical Adviser to the Presidential Committee on the Deregulation of the Downstream Petroleum Sector, 2009; Member, Technical Sub-Committee Presidential Committee on 25 years Development Plan for Nigerian Electricity Sector, 2005 – 2006; Coordinator, Energy Sector, Nigeria Infrastructure Masterplan, First Operational Plan 2017; and chaired the committee that prepared the Macroeconomic Framework for the Medium-Term National Development Plan, 2021-2025. Prof. Adenikinju developed Nigeria’s first Computable General Equilibrium Model, and was one of the consultants who prepared the First Nigerian Perspective Plan. He has consulted for many Nigerian government agencies as well as international development partners such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), African Development Bank (AfDB), European Union (EU), and United Nations Organisation (UNO).
