Dr. Alaba is an international consultant and expert in fiscal and international trade policy; development cooperation and regional integration; regulatory compliance; and monitoring and evaluation, who doubles as Fiscal, Trade, and Regional Cooperation and Integration Policy Advisor. He obtained a B. Sc. (Hons), M. Sc., and PhD in Economics from the University of Ibadan. He also served a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, Lead City University, Ibadan. Dr. Alaba has served as Consultant and Technical Lead for the ECOWAS-GIZ programme for the GIZ support to Nigeria on the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA); Lead, Luvent Consulting, Germany, for the EU Support to the African Union Commission on a Study on Readiness Assessment for Africa’s Customs Union and Common Market; as well as Lead for IBF International Consulting, Belgium in the EU Support to Implementation of National Economic Policies (SINEP) in Nigeria, a project that supported all technical departments of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and Allied Ministries, Departments and Agencies of National and State Government. Dr. Alaba was a Senior Specialist/Team Lead – Economic Growth and Environment (EGE) for the USAID Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Support Activity where he coordinated field-based monitoring, evaluation and institutional learning of USAID EGE projects. He also led the Trade Policy and Trade Facilitation Workstream of UKAiD/Policy Development Facility (PDF) II for Nigeria, a rapid response facility that support Federal Government of Nigeria is several aspects of policy making and policy implementation.
